Antje Schomaker doesn’t have to do anything, as she points out in this concert’s title song. But she does it anyway. With talent, energy and humour in equal measure, she storms the charts time and again.

Her 2018 debut album “Von Helden und Halunken” was hailed by critics and audiences alike as the long-awaited breath of fresh air in the German-language music scene. As she cuts off her waist-length hair in the video for the break-up song “Verschwendete Zeit” (Wasted Time), it dawns on the viewer that this it is in truth a declaration of love for her own life. She donates her hair and and the single becomes a hit. As does “Auf Augenhöhe” – a many-voiced feminist statement with the support of 124 women and non-binary musicians that draws attention to the misogyny prevalent in the music industry. The song “Ich muss gar nichts” (I don’t have to anything), released in 2021, is a dig at the hit- and profit-fixated music industry. Her current single, “Lost Indieboy” – a taster of her new album “Snacks” – is a reckoning with the Peter Pans of this world. It’s also extremely danceable and certain to heal a few of the wounds that coming of age invariably inflicts. And that is exactly what makes Antje Schomaker so unique: the staunch forward thrust of her music, her firm stance against being disparaged and her assertion of her own viewpoint, voice and vision.
