Locations & Directions
The Gasteig and the Isar river have always been close neighbours, and that’s still the case at our temporary premises. The Gasteig HP8 is easy to reach by both public transport and car. But by far the most picturesque approach is the cycle path along the river.
Gasteig HP8 [Sendling]

How to get there
There are many ways to reach the Gasteig. From the city centre, you can get there in just 15 minutes by underground or bus. If you come by car, use the car park of the adjacent wholesale flower market (Blumengroßmarkt) near Mittlerer Ring and take the shuttle bus to the Gasteig HP8. Better still, come by bike and take advantage of our generous bicycle parking spaces.
Please note: Due to construction work at Sendlinger Tor, the U3 underground line is running a reduced service from time to time. For an up-to-date timetable, visit mvg.de.
Line U3 to Brudermühlstraße
The journey from Marienplatz takes a mere 7 minutes. From there, it’s just a 5 minute (350 metre) walk towards the Isar. Alternatively, take bus no. 54 or X30 to “Schäftlarnstraße/Gasteig HP8”.
Line U6 to Implerstraße (evenings and weekends)
From there, you can take the Parkhausshuttle 97 car park shuttle bus, which stops at Oberländerstraße at car park exits C and D and takes you to the “Schäftlarnstraße/Gasteig HP8” stop. The line runs from 6 PM during the week, from 5 PM on Saturdays and from 10 AM on Sundays and public holidays. The last return trip leaves at 11:27 PM.
Line U1 to Candidplatz
Travel time from Marienplatz is just 6 minutes. From there, take bus no. 54 or X30 to “Schäftlarnstraße/Gasteig HP8”.
Buses no. 54 and X30 between Harras and Ostbahnhof
- Bus no. 54 runs every 10 minutes until around 11 PM, with a more frequent service, every 5 minutes, during peak travel times between Harras and Giesing Bahnhof railway station.
- The X30 express bus runs every 6 to 10 minutes (Monday to Friday) until about 11 PM. Stops: Harras – Brudermühlstraße – Candidplatz – Silberhornstraße – Ostfriedhof – Ostbahnhof – Arabellapark. On Saturdays and Sundays, it runs every 10 minutes and only between Harras and Ostbahnhof.
The most pleasant way to get to the Gasteig is the cycle path along the Isar river. Once you reach the Brudermühlbrücke bridge, you’ll see the chimneys of the Heizkraftwerk Süd power station, which is right opposite the Gasteig HP8.
There are 200 parking spaces for bicycles outside Hall E. And before your return journey, you can fill up with food and drink at the GAiA restaurant.
Car parking at HP8 is limited. There are no visitor parking spaces on site. You can park nearby in the Gasteig car park at the Blumengroßmarkt and take the MVG shuttle bus no. 97, which takes you to the Gasteig HP8 in just a few minutes.
Blumengroßmarkt car park
From two hours before an event at the Isarphilharmonie until 1 AM, 200 parking spaces are available in the car park of the flower wholesale market. The charge is € 10 for the first four hours plus € 3.50 for each additional hour or part thereof.
MVG shuttle bus no. 97
The shuttle bus service between car park and Gasteig HP8 is free of charge and has disabled access.
Disabled parking spaces are available at the Blumengroßmarkt car park. Until construction work has been completed, disabled parking at the Gasteig HP8 itself is limited. Currently, we have five designated parking spaces. For detailed information on the use of our disabled parking spaces, visit our accessibility page.
