The Gasteig HP8

The Gasteig’s arts and educational offerings have moved upriver along the Isar and found their home in the Gasteig HP8 (Hans-Preißinger-Straße 8) in Sendling. The Gasteig will occupy these appealing, urban interim premises throughout the renovation of our main building on Rosenheimer Straße. The imposing centrepiece of our new home is Hall E – a listed industrial building from the 1920s that also serves as the entrance area and foyer for the adjacent Isarphilharmonie. Our custom built philharmonic hall has quickly established itself as Munich’s favourite concert venue.

The site

Besides the architectural gems of Hall E and the Isarphilharmonie, the Gasteig HP8 site contains several modular buildings. These house Gasteig institutes, such as the Münchner Volkshochschule adult education centre and the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, as well as a restaurant and smaller function rooms. The established crafts businesses and artists’ studios that are also resident on the HP8 site make for an inspiring mix.

The location

The Gasteig HP8 is easy to reach, being located directly at the Flaucher on the Isar river, in the midst of one of Munich’s most exciting cultural districts. There are plenty of other sites in our Sendling neighbourhood that are also worth a visit. Only a short distance away, for example, you’ll find the passenger ship “Alte Utting”, perched high up on its dry dock, the “Bahnwärter Thiel” alternative arts project and the new Münchner Volkstheater.

What we offer

In its four new auditoria, the Gasteig HP8 can accommodate up to 2500 people. They all have different sizes, equipment and furnishings, and each boasts a unique atmosphere, providing the right space and setting for any event: from large-scale musicals to concerts in an intimate ambience; from festivals, film screening and exhibitions to courses, lectures, receptions and conferences. Up-to-date event equipment and highly qualified personnel complete our range of services.
