Once a year, the city's biggest dance festival transforms Gasteig HP8 into a huge dance floor for everyone. On 5 July, several thousand people were once again able to try out different dance styles in workshops, listen to live music and simply let themselves go.
Once a year, the city’s biggest dance festival transforms the Gasteig HP8 into a huge dance floor for everyone. On 5 July, several thousand people were once again able to try out different dance styles in workshops, listen to live music and simply let themselves drift.
Professionals and newcomers, children, young people and senior citizens took over the entire area of Gasteig HP8 from the afternoon until after midnight and conquered all the dance floors – barefoot, in wheelchairs or on high heels. There was hula-hoop dancing and silent disco in the open air, a K-pop workshop, a hot salsa party in Hall E, an exciting breaking battle in the Isarphilharmonie and much more: Tanz den Gasteig 2025 was once again a great success. “What excited us the most was the diversity and vibe of the audience. We’re in our mid-20s, and normally, when we go out partying, the crowd is quite homogeneous. But not at this event: we’re in the techno space and suddenly there’s a retired couple having fun. It was a safe space in which everyone could move about and try things out. Great event; should happen more than once a year.”
