More than just a name, “Three and a Half” describes this formation’s concept: of three (and a half) musicians from three (and a half) continents who first met in Munich.

English-German saxophonist and bassist Edi May, Colombian guitarist Óscar Mosquera and American drummer Nathan Carruthers showcase their new project. The band not only comes from 3(.5) countries and plays three (and a half) instruments, but also draws on more than three musical genres.

Although rooted in jazz, their compositions and sound draw on various genres, including hip hop, rock, drum and bass, techno and others, not to mention the young jazz and pop scenes in both Germany and the artists’ respective home countries. The band released its debut album in August 2023.
