Fernanda von Sachsen-Gessaphe sings jazz standards with passion and dedication; Pablo Struff is first and foremost an improviser on the piano. Asked to describe their musical partnership in one word, they settle on “interactive”.

The two musicians met at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich in 2021 and quickly got creative expressing their musical similarities and differences. The duo received a scholarship from Yehudi-Menuhin Live Music Now e. V. in 2023, which allows them to continue to broaden and share their music.

Fernanda is a passionate interpreter of jazz standards. Her style is characterised by both traditional elements of vocal jazz and her classical background, but also by lyrical and experimental forms of expression. She has appeared with various ensembles, including the Bavarian Youth Jazz Orchestra and her own quartet, on stages such as Jazzclub Unterfahrt, Jazzweekend Regensburg, International Jazz Week Burghausen, and Jazzfestival Craiova in Romania.

Pablo’s lyrical playing, influenced by Keith Jarrett, took him to Munich’s University of Music and Performing Arts at the early age of 11. Since then, he has performed on Germany’s stages in various constellations. His expressive approach to the piano enables him to reach audiences both inside and outside of traditional jazz. Whether as a solo artist or sideman, improvisation always takes centre stage in his playing. He most recently appeared at the Jazzweekend Regensburg festival.

The programme for the Long Night of Music 2024 in the Rehearsal Hall and Small Hall will be presented by students and graduates of the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts.
