Who are the Odeon-Jugendsinfonieorchester?

The Odeon is a Munich-based orchestra of over 70 musicians aged from 15 to 25 years. It gives its young members the opportunity of discovering the diverse, exciting world of classical music at a high artistic level. Since its foundation in 2006, the Odeon has developed a wide-ranging repertoire. In weekly rehearsals, four programmes a year are rehearsed under the artistic direction of conductor Julio Doggenweiler Fernández.

The Munich Philharmonic’s protégé orchestra

A close friendship turned musical sponsorship: the Munich Philharmonic is official sponsor of the Odeon since 2010. Through the two orchestras’ close collaboration, the professional musicians provide valuable artistic input both at rehearsals and at the regular joint concerts at the Isarphilharmonie.  The Munich Philharmonic also supports its protégés with loaned instruments and sheet music.

The Odeon regularly demonstrates its high musical level at concerts in and around Munich as well as abroad. Concert tours have taken the young musicians to Hungary, Serbia, Italy, and even as far afield as Chile and China. And along the way, the orchestra has won several prizes at national and international competitions.
