With their debut album “Kaiser Quartett”, Ingmar Süberkrüb (viola), Martin Bentz (cello), Adam Zolynski (violin) and Jansen Folkers (violin) put classical music on a back burner to make space for hip hop, funk, electro and pop.

In 2011, the quartet began their collaboration with pianist and Grammy award winner Chilly Gonzales, playing at concerts in Hamburg and Berlin for the release of the pianist’s “The Unspeakable Chilly Gonzales” album, which combines orchestra and rap. The long-standing collaboration with Chilly Gonzales culminated in the joint album “Chambers” in 2015. A year-long world tour was the opportunity to see the Kaiser Quartett live in the world’s most prestigious venues in Europe and the United Kingdom, as well as the Massey Hall in Toronto, in Montreal and at the Montreux Jazz Festival.

After numerous collaborations with artists at home and abroad, including Daniel Hope, BOY, Bosse and Gregory Porter, the quartet’s debut album “Kaiser Quartett”, featuring only the quartet’s own compositions was released in 2019. The subsequent headline tour saw them perform in many clubs in Germany and France, at Hamburg’s Reeperbahn Festival and at Eurosonic Noorderslag in Groningen.

Recently, the Kaiser Quartett collaborated with Anna Ternheim, Die Sterne, Jarvis Cocker, Leoniden, Roosevelt and rap artist Yassin, with whom they released their version of “Abendland” on arte Tracks. At the 2021 Reeperbahn Festival, they rocked the Elbphilharmonie together with Australian singer-songwriter RY X.

For their second album “Empire”, released in March 2023, Adam, Jansen, Ingmar and Martin retreated to the rural “Fattoria Musica” near Osnabrück in Lockdown 2021 for several sessions to develop their original compositions, with which they are now on a major tour of Germany.
