Currently still in the studio in his adopted home of New York, Matthew is putting the finishing touches to the recordings for his second album of covers. Scott Matthew is known to finish his moving sets with a cover song before exiting the stage. Scott himself says about his encores: “These songs are like old friends, some of whom I grew up with and who gave me comfort and support in special life situations”.

In 2013, he released his first collection of favourite covers with the album Unlearned (Glitterhouse/Indigo). For his new album, he will once again probe the very essence of some of his “old friends” with plenty of love and empathy, translating them into touching new takes with his distinctive voice and reduced instrumentation. Though the track list and album title are still under wraps, we can already reveal that both album and upcoming live sets will feature world-famous pop hits as well as the occasional soul classic and largely unknown musical gem.
