From mid-April, an “island of culture” on the Am Kulturkraftwerk plaza outside Hall E will invite visitors to hang out and join in. The new space in the Gasteig HP8 is being planned by Munich collective Die Städtischen and will be open for everyone to use and perform in.
Furnished with wooden benches, raised beds, an open bookcase and flexible modules that can be rearranged to variously form a stage, tables or activity area, the Kulturinsel will offer a shared space of creativity until October 2023. The aim: to create an oasis right in the city – a flexible space where people can enjoy hanging out, making music or do some gardening. The grand opening on Saturday 22 April will demonstrate the possibilities the Kulturinsel has to offer.

If you have lavender, cheddar pinks, sage thyme or other suitable plants at home, bring them along and join in the planting: mitmachen@gasteig.de
