The Birkenlicht Sonate by cellist and composer Graham Waterhouse is dedicated in memoriam to the Munich lyricist Hans Krieger. Four poems that served as inspiration will be read by Oliver Karbus. Also on the programme are Waterhouse’s Eleven Smithereens, a remarkably extensive work consisting of 11 “tone poems” for solo cello. The concert begins with Robert Schumann’s lyrical Adagio and Allegro, Op 70.
