An apocalyptic scene: a figure wrapped in a sack walks across a rubbish dump, seagulls circling overhead.

On the outskirts of Serbia’s capital Belgrade lies Vinča, the site of one of Europe’s largest landfills. Once an archaeological site, it has become the workplace of the “bottlemen”, who collect plastic bottles for meagre wages to make ends meet. The film is set in the last days of this working community, as their jobs fade into obsolescence. It centres on the struggle of the kind-hearted boxer Yanika and his leadership in a chaotic system.
