Munich pianist Ralf Schnell plays one of the most beautiful works of modern piano literature: Morton Feldman’s For Bunita Marcus. At a length of about 85 minutes, this epic work fascinates with a reduced, at times almost minimalist quality that nevertheless carries an emotionality that gets under the skin. Demanding extreme skill and dexterity from the performer, it remains a rarity in concert schedules.
