The ever modest artist sees making music as a mission: “An artist’s most important task is to make discoveries and pass them on. The music should pass through us.” Because Pires never really felt at home in the fast-moving music business and on the big stages, her live performances are few and far between. The Portuguese Mozart specialist shows her magic only at selected venues and with trusted partners. In the Isarphilharmonie, this will be the young conductor Lorenzo Viotti. The son of Marcello Viotti – the former principal conductor of the Munich Radio Orchestra – has been the principal conductor of both the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Opera in Amsterdam since 2021.
