A life committed to peace

Associated with the struggle for freedom, justice and peace, many of the songs that Ferhat Tunç penned throughout his 40-year-long musical career have achieved cult status.

 

With as many as 26 albums to his name, Tunç was awarded the World Free Music Award in 2010. He also authored a book titled “Zor Zamanlar İnce Şarkılar” (Hard Times, Tender Songs). Ferhat Tunç has always been an active political campaigner, for which he was arrested several times. Despite the repression he experienced throughout his career as a vocalist, he always found strength and hope in his songs and in the encouragement he received from his fans.

 

His is a story of song, poetry and hope, all of which can be found in his voice; a voice that has been rising to the heavens in its most vocal form for exactly forty years now.
