In their new programme "Ponteio", Cantares presents Brazilian a cappella pieces for several voices, arrangements with percussion and guitar accompaniment as well as popular songs with the drive and power of body percussion.

A particular focus of the programme is a samba project that is sponsored by the Goethe Institut and for which the Brazilian musician Paulo Malaguti has arranged several pieces by renowned composers (Paulinho da Viola, Ary Barroso, Cartola, Geraldo Pereira) as well as a composition of his own for Cantares. The body percussion concepts and arrangements are by Gilson de Assis, who makes up the rhythm section together with Valdir Mendes. Also appearing with the choir will be Fabrício Cavalcante on guitar.

Cantares have been firmly established in Munich’s Brazilian music scene for over 25 years now and also perform at festivals and cultural events beyond Bavaria. What unites the international medley of singers is their enthusiasm for Brazilian music and the sound of the Portuguese language. The choir’s passionate, enthusiastic musical director is Lilian Zamorano, a lecturer in Brazilian vocal music and rhythm. The Brazilian values collaboration with other musicians, as exemplified by her to work with renowned artists such as the musician and arranger Paulo Malaguti or the choreographer Patrícia Costa.
