The story of people who crave love and fame seems almost like a prequel to the age of social media. It has its roots in Andy Warhol’s dream of a future society in which everyone would be famous once for 15 minutes. The Modern String Quartet celebrates its 40th anniversary with this self-composed stage production.

Andy Warhol closely escaped death when Valerie Solanas put three bullets through his chest. Having miraculously survived, he later opined that it was only art after all. This musical trip tells of yearning and suffering, greatness and downfall through art.

New York City: The world revolves around Studio 54 and Andy Warhol’s Factory. Among those that join “their” Andy at The Factory for that last, big night of the 70s to celebrate his 40th birthday are Marilyn Monroe, Lou Reed, Henry Geldzahler and Devine. But the sun is already setting on the legends of their time… A balancing act between avant-garde and evergreens, the performance couples modern sounds with American music of the 1960s and 70s – a fantastic sprawl of styles that shamelessly mix and mingle.
