On 18 March 2022, Peter Kraus celebrated his 83rd birthday. What better gift than to embark on a grand tour of Germany and Austria in 2023. His enthusiasm for playing to live audiences has not diminished in more than two years of enforced concert abstinence: someone who lives for the stage as much as Peter Kraus is not going to stop performing any time soon.

The superstar of the roaring 50s and 60s left his mark on that era like no other artist, and Peter Kraus embodies the irrepressible joie de vivre of rock’n’roll right up to the present day. With his tour totalling 23 concerts, the extraordinary, forever young artist will celebrate our regained freedom on stages throughout Germany and Austria in the spring of 2023. As well as his timeless hits, such as Rock Around The Clock and Sugar Baby, he will perform tracks from his latest album, Idole.

“I can’t wait to go on tour. Finally live again! You must hear this album live! With these concerts, I pay homage to my idols, to the people who influenced me musically in my youth. We’ll be celebrating an exciting time and its unforgettable heroes.”

Accompanied by his exceptional, long-standing musicians and female vocals, Peter Kraus will present a programme that’ll take you back to the “good old times” and that’s brimming with feeling and passion. No excesses of electric mega-volume here – the message is carried only by soulful melodies and the genuine, unadulterated sounds of the artists’ voices and instruments, such as guitar, saxophone, trumpet, drums, keys and double bass. Naturally, you can also look forward to the born entertainer’s legendary hip swing!

About Peter Kraus

In times like these, a full-blooded musician cannot be idle; the creative vein of a full-blooded musician never ceases to pulse. And Peter Kraus is no exception. “What did I do in the difficult Corona time? Something very exciting. I sang at home! The songs of my early youth. By Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Samy Davis Jr, Ella and Louis and many more. It was their hits, in those days, that made me want to make music too. I loved their swing music, and still do today,” says Peter Kraus.

His musical journey started well before 1956, in which year he became known to a wider public. His father, Fred Kraus, himself a star of his day, was young Peter’s first role model. It was these early influences that have fomented his list of idols, including such surprising names as Nat King Cole or Sammy Davis Jr. in addition to the more obvious ones like Bill Haley and Chuck Berry. Having witnessed many of these artists live on stage, Peter Kraus was inspired by their entertainment skills, stage presence and audience interaction.
