Born in the Italian province of South Tyrol, Herbert Pixner has been variously dubbed the Jimi Hendrix of folk and the Frank Zappa of the Alps. Although often compared to Piazzolla and Paganini, the multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and originator of the Herbert Pixner Projekt has created and continued to develop an entirely distinctive musical style over the years.

With its congenial line-up of Manuel Randi (guitars), Heidi Pixner (harp) and Werner Unterlercher (bass) as well as Pixner himself, the Herbert Pixner Projekt have been among the most successful exponents of “new and progressive folk music” for almost twenty years now. With playful subtlety, powerful rock and blues riffs, brilliant technique and electrifying vivacity, they have been delighting an ever-growing audience for many years now. Euphoria, energy, excitement and a lot of free improvisation are the not-so-secret ingredients of the Herbert Pixner Projekt’s success.
