Optimum sound reinforcement for your event: The new PA system in the Isarphilharmonie

For the 2025/2026 season, the Isarphilharmonie has been equipped with a new state-of-the-art sound system. The XSL system from d&b audiotechnik provides event organisers with a PA that is perfectly matched to the acoustic characteristics of the concert hall.

The new system ensures an even more balanced sound throughout the auditorium while reducing sound radiation into areas where it is not wanted. This is particularly advantageous for speech reinforcement and dynamic music programmes, enabling an exceptionally precise reproduction of sound and clarity of speech in the hall. The system is rounded off with powerful d&b SL-SUB subwoofers and various point source loudspeakers.

Organisers benefit from optimised acoustic conditions, increased planning flexibility and an even higher sound quality for a wide range of event formats – from concerts to multimedia productions.

Technical details and plans

The auditorium can seat up to 1956 people, depending on the size of the stage. This figure includes 20 wheelchair spaces with 20 accompanying seats, and there are 96 seats on the choir balcony. The audience areas are divided into a level ground floor and a rising stalls area. In addition, there are balcony seats on the mezzanine and first floor, and gallery seats on the second floor. The upper floors are accessible by lift. Exception: the galleries.

The stage of the Isarphilharmonie has a floor area of 220 m² at a depth of 11 m. It can be extended to a depth of 13.90 m, adding a further 24.5 m². On stage, the lower machinery, consisting of four platform rings can be moved infinitely to up to 25 steps. A delivery area is located behind the stage, along with artists’ dressing rooms and warm-up rooms. The Isarphilharmonie also features an upper machinery consisting of 5 heavy-duty cross beams above the stage, 2 scenery cross beams in front of the stage and 4 lighting cross beams in the body of the auditorium. The upper and lower machinery is programmable.

The Isarphilharmonie has an in-house recording studio as well as its own lighting, projection and sound control systems. There are also two follow spot room and a narrator’s booth.

The hall is equipped with a new d&b XSL system – a state-of-the-art PA installation that is perfectly matched to the Isarphilharmonie. It allows an exceptionally even sound distribution in the auditorium, while the cardioid speaker design reduces sound emissions into those areas where it is not wanted. The PA enables precise sound reproduction and excellent clarity of speech. Thanks to its high quality, the system is suitable for a wide variety of event formats – from concerts to multimedia productions.
