Munich-born Stephanie Jenke has been committed to the Gasteig for almost 25 years. After studying law in Munich and Paris, she began her career in 2000 as a personal consultant to the management. She later joined the Gasteig’s management team as authorised signatory, legal advisor and head of legal affairs, security and catering. Following the resignation of Gasteig Managing Director Max Wagner in September 2023, she assumed the role of interim Managing Director of Gasteig München GmbH while the position was re-advertised.
“Over the past twelve months, Stephanie Jenke has proven that she is the perfect choice to manage the Gasteig in every respect”, says Munich’s Mayor, Dominik Krause, who is also Chair of the Supervisory Board of Gasteig München GmbH. “More than just keeping our large arts centre running, she has injected it with fresh impetus. Her professional expertise and profound experience in managing a cultural organisation are the perfect foundation for the continued success of this cultural institution that is so invaluable for Munich. She stood out head and shoulders from all the other highly qualified applicants.”
Stephanie Jenke herself is looking forward to assuming her new role: “When I took over as interim Managing Director last year, it was quite spontaneous. I’ve now had twelve months to experience first-hand the excitement, challenges and rewards these tasks bring with them,” she says. That’s why she didn’t hesitate to apply for the permanent position. “I greatly enjoy this work. I have a great, highly competent team with whom to meet the challenges that the Gasteig will face in the coming years.”
Stephanie Jenke knows full well that these challenges won’t be easy: “The general refurbishment of the Gasteig in Haidhausen and its interim use are, of course, highly topical,” she says. Further items on the agenda for the near future include the continuing opening up of the Gasteig HP8 as a meeting place for everyone, further strengthening collaborations with the Gasteig family’s institutions, and the Gasteig’s 40th anniversary in 2025. “I’m looking forward to what lies ahead,” says Stephanie Jenke. “I certainly won’t get bored. But that’s also the beauty of this job!”
