HP8 studio artists show their work

Until the beginning of Oktober works by artist Martina Kändler will be on display in Hall E. The exhibited works are from the photographic series “dawning I/II/III” (photography, pigment print, 84 x 119 cm).

Martina Kändler uses photographic, sculptural and performative approaches in her artistic practice. In her series shown here, she stages models of a fictional reality. She translates her exploration of ice falls in the polar region and their transformations into built structures, which she arranges in natural outdoor spaces. The model landscape, photographed in unspecific waters, and its decay become a symbol of the irretrievable – the photograph becomes the documenter of a hypothesis in which utopia and dystopia merge.

Martina Kändler studied fine arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg. She was born in Bavaria and lives and works in Munich. She has had her studio on the HP8 site since 2008.
