From 1 June to 31 August 2024, a work by Munich artist Fred Krueger will be featured on the exhibition wall in Hall E: Eros + Thanatos, a colourful yet gloomy oil-on-wood polyptych somewhere between Sandro Botticelli and Neo Rauch was created in 2023 and, like much of Krueger’s work, leaves plenty of room for interpretation.
As such, it is in keeping with the artist’s previous creations – imaginative, surrealistic, whimsical and yet always with a contemporary feel. It is not only the motifs that stand for Krueger’s unmistakable style: the bright, vivid colours, which make his paintings appear even more uncompromising, are also characteristic of the artist’s work.
Fred Krueger was born in Sendling in 1963, is self-taught and never attended an art college. He has been working as a painter, graphic artist and illustrator since 1982.

“Fathoming the secrets of classical painting is a life’s work that only takes place in your ivory tower.”
