HP8 studio artists show their work

From 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2026, you can view works by Carolina Johnson González on the Exhibition Wall in Hall E.

On show will be Encounters 2, a triptych (three pictures hung next to each other), each 150 cm high x 115 cm wide, in charcoal and oil on canvas. It shows people, each going about their business, separately yet connected in a shared space.

Carolina Johnson González’s paintings are informed by the close observation of routines and everyday lives lived in community. They depict people of different origins and skin colour engaged in simple, everyday activities, such as sipping a coffee, strolling along the beach or waiting for the underground – ordinary acts that are both intimate and universal. Colour, too, plays an important role: a palette that embeds figures, clothing, streets and landscape in a common ambience creates a visual structure in which characters and their surroundings merge and enter into dialogue with each other.

The work is a homage to quiet humanity, to the tranquillity of being. It emphasises the simplicity and dignity of the everyday and reveals the beauty of small mannerisms, inviting the viewer to contemplate their immediate surroundings.
