HP8 studio artists show their work

In April and May 2026, you can view Susanne Pittroff’s work “… an einem Tisch 2” (… at a table 2) on the Exhibition Wall in Hall E. Reflections on the ambiguity of marks and signals and the resultant change in spatial perception are a recurrent theme in the work of the Munich artist Susanne Pittroff. The starting point of all deliberations for her site-related compositions, whether made for the duration of an exhibition or as permanent works of art, is always the specific situation of the space in question.

On the Exhibition Wall, she shows an object in fabric, and a wall drawing entitled “… an einem Tisch 2”, whose fragmentary forms complement each other, forming a whole and inviting viewers to come together.

Two-part installation: folded fabric on MDF and wall drawing; dimensions: 1.60 m x 1.60 m each

About the artist

1981–1989 Studied art history at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich
1982–1989 Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich

Since 1989, Susanne Pittroff has received numerous awards and grants and has held exhibitions both in Germany and abroad.

Susanne Pittroff’s artistic practice focuses on context-specific, conceptual projects in public spaces and art-in-architecture initiatives. Her installations and sculptural works explore the interplay between people, history and the architectural environment. Her starting point is always an exploration of a place – its historical significance, its current use, its spatial and physical conditions, and its ambience. Through the use of various different materials and techniques as well as the deliberate recontextualisation of everyday objects, Pittroff creates multi-layered works full of political and historical references.

Pittroff has staged many solo exhibitions, site-specific installations and public art projects both in Germany and abroad, including in Munich, Berlin, Paris, London, Istanbul, Kraków and Łódź. She currently holds a Bonn Kunstfond scholarship.

Pittroff  has received several awards and competition prizes in the field of art in architecture and public art, including first prize for a project at the Berlin Ministry of Finance (2023, not yet realised) and second prize for the Alice Salomon School in Berlin-Hellersdorf (2025). Her completed works include the sculpture Florentina at Munich’s Ziemsenstraße hospital complex (2022) as well as projects in urban spaces in Munich, Berlin and abroad.
