Do you have a special ritual before a performance?

Not really. I just want to have enough time to get my saxophone, hair, make-up and outfit ready. Then I’m ready to go.

Do you rather tend to be nervous or more of a show-off on stage?

Definitely show-off – haha!

What things should not be missing backstage?

It would be nice if the bathroom and dressing room were clean. A mirror and good light always make me happy. Also a large dressing room with enough space for the band and crew. I’m not so keen on being separated from them.

Final applause, off the stage – and then what? What’s the first thing you do after a performance?

Off with the shoes. Then I like to hang out with the band and crew or meet my fans after the show.

Who would you like to perform with and why?

I’m lucky in that I’ve already been able to perform with absolute legends: Aretha Franklin, Prince, Pink Floyd, The J. B.s and so on. But I would have loved to have played for Tina Turner. Of the living legends, I guess it would be D’Angelo.
