Kuckuck Children’s Theatre Festival

The Kuckuck Festival provides the very youngest children, between the ages of zero and five, with their first sensory and artistic encounters with theatre. Artists from Germany and abroad immerse their young audience and their parents in new, unfamiliar spaces to experience and explore the magic of theatre together.

The Kuckuck Festival invites theatre groups from Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands to present their extraordinary productions in Munich. Despite their diversity – from circus, dance and musical performance to puppet theatre and shadow theatre – the performances have one thing in common: they transform the ordinary into something special. They show that creativity is everywhere: in colours and materials, in sounds, in movement, and even under a table. They provide our little ones with the space to feel connected, curious, courageous and full of possibilities.

Babies, toddlers and their companions are invited to marvel, feel, discover and share aesthetic moments that will resonate far beyond the theatre.

On 21 March, the Kuckuck festival will hold a performance at the Projektor in the Gasteig HP8. In cooperation with the Munich Public Library, the puppet theatre production Als der kleine Koriander kam will be shown at 9.30 & 11 AM.

Shown in four venues (Schauburg, HochX – Theater und Live Art, Evangelische Familien-Bildungsstätte Elly Heuss-Knapp and the Munich Public Library in HP8), the festival programme provides the very young with a variety of insights into the world of theatre.
