Information about the festival

For many years now, the Munich Balkantage (Balkan Days) have provided an insight into the cultural diversity of South-Eastern Europe. With their exciting mix of films, exhibitions, literature, music, folklore and panel discussions, they are as varied as they are stimulating.

“Are our hands tied?” – political participation in the Balkan diaspora

Whether or not they have German citizenship or are taxpayers: for the Balkan diaspora, the opportunities for political participation are limited. This can be observed at all levels – local, national and international. The Munich Balkan Days 2023 want to draw attention to this democratic deficit and asks the question: What can migrants and refugees in Germany do to improve their chances of having a say in politics?

The patron of the Balkan Days is the Mayor of Munich, Dieter Reiter. With the kind support of the Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Munich

The festival takes place throughout Munich from 24 May to 15 July 2023. More information is available at balkantage.org
