Iran is mainly associated with oil and dictatorship. The Termeh Festival redresses this by presenting the country’s artistic creativity in a variety of art forms, ranging from film, music, theatre and literature to visual arts. Although artists in Iran have to contend with strict censorship, the arts manage to thrive as artists find creative means of expressing themselves. This year’s motto is “Woman. Life. Freedom”.
