Information about the festival
The Kurdish Film Festival Munich 2026 presents a diverse selection of feature films, documentaries and short films in Kurdish with German and English subtitles. The focus is on films that deal with the history, culture and current social issues of the Kurdish community.
There is a particular focus on issues of identity and freedom, as well as the tension between one’s own cultural heritage and the culture of one’s adopted homeland. In addition, traditional forms of expression such as Kurdish Dengbêj music and Kurdish dance traditions are highlighted.
The 2026 Munich Kurdish Film Festival thus creates a platform for encounter, exchange and discussion about the diverse perspectives, stories and cultural expressions of the Kurdish community – both in their homeland and in the diaspora.
