Theater Grenzenlos: “Liebe”Ten years of Theater Grenzenlos
This event is in the past.
What does it feel like when we really open our hearts? When we suddenly feel ourselves again, and the people next to us? That’s exactly where the play Liebe (Love) takes you. Refugees take to the stage and show how a single encounter can change everything: the air smells more intense, colours glow, curiosity conquers fear, strangers become friends.

A young woman full of joie de vivre and love enters a society in which people have grown lonely. Her authenticity holds the key to opening the people’s hearts. Suddenly, here is someone they can feel, someone who refreshes their senses and revitalises them. Together, they go in search of the lost feeling of closeness.

About Theater Grenzenlos
Since its foundation in 2016, Theater Grenzenlos has set itself the task of realising artistically challenging theatre projects with young refugees, which, in addition to their often traumatic stories of flight, deal with the loss of home and the search for belonging in an unfamiliar new country. Its main aim is to give the young people a safe space in which they can mould their life stories into a creative form and overcome feelings of powerlessness to some extent. Ideally, this strengthens and enables them to organise their often difficult everyday lives with greater self-confidence.
The project also promotes contact between different groups of people in society. In a playful, creative environment, the young people get to know people of all ages who have grown up here and can help them in their search for support, orientation and perspective. The performances serve as a platform for exchange and encounters and provide impetus for a new way of living together.
Theater Grenzenlos is forever searching for drama forms that work with little or no text (to avoid language barriers), instead using poetic imagery. Methods such as shadow play, masks, physical theatre and dance have proven to be particularly effective.
