“It is an insane project that only those who really have something to say about these pieces can dare to undertake,” wrote the Süddeutsche Zeitung after the MKO and its long-standing artistic partner Alexander Lonquich performed all five of Beethoven’s piano concertos in a single sitting at the Prinzregen Tentheater in 2019. The complete freedom in the moment and the unusual transparency and immediacy of the performances yielded a veritable storm of applause in the hall. Following the successful CD recording of the concerts on ECM Records, this unforgettable Beethoven event can once more be experienced live on stage with the same line-up in the 2025/26 anniversary season – this time at the Isarphilharmonie.
