Creative studio We Are Video is presenting a new interactive video art installation at the Gasteig HP8 that was specially developed for the venue. “Spark” takes its cue from Ayzit Bostan’s installation in Hall E – the giant mirror ball that symbolizes celebration, reflection and playful togetherness and that marks the Gasteig’s 40th anniversary.

And this is also the central idea behind We Are Video’s new interactive work: “Spark” represents the trigger moment – that fleeting instant in which something special is born. Every interaction creates a spark that connects with other sparks to become part of a larger whole or generates an invisible attraction between people. “Spark” is also a contemporary term that is especially associated with the digital domain.

Interesting fact: The new installation is based on an existing work, “Aurum”, which was shown in 2025 and has now been further developed for the Gasteig HP8. The original patch has been transformed into a glittering monochrome version that blends into the architectural surrounds, sets visual accents and invites people to interact.

Inspired by the mirror ball in its form, “Spark” is an interactive anniversary installation that literally sparkles and responds to the viewer: The artwork comes to life by touch or by simply walking past and moving your hand. Subtle gestures reveal hidden layers of shimmering layers of patterns that respond to movement. Each interaction is a personal, sensual experience that dissolves the boundaries between observation and participation.

With “Spark”, We Are Video remains true to its claim of innovatively combining art and technology to conceive immersive works of art, creating spaces in which art is not only viewed, but actively experienced and co-created.
