Traditional music, classical compositions and rollicking rock define the Hungarian band Söndörgő – one of the most innovative and successful bands on the international music circuit.
When they formed Söndörgő more than a quarter of a century ago, its members were mere kids, who essentially grew up within their band. Four of the five members come from the same family of musicians: the three brothers Aaron, Benjamin and Salamon Eredics, and their cousin, David Eredics.
The year 2024 marked a decisive turning point in Söndörgő’s artistic career, when the band released the groundbreaking album Gyezz featuring the internationally acclaimed jazz saxophonist Chris Potter.
This apex in the band’s history continued into Söndörgő’s 30th anniversary year in 2025, when they were named Ensemble of the Season at Müpa Budapest. In that epic year, the band released its album XXX and toured extensively throughout Europe and Japan, including a performance at the Osaka World Expo.
Even after three decades, Söndörgő continues to redefine South Slavic and Balkan musical traditions – not as an immutable heritage, but as a living, ever-evolving source of inspiration.
