Hilary Hahn will not be able to perform on 6 November 2024 on health grounds. Renaud Capuçon will take her place in the trio with Rudolf Buchbinder and Gautier Capuçon.

Franz Schubert’s two piano trios, which the composer wrote in the last two years of his life, have almost symphonic dimensions in both form and content. Robert Schumann hailed the two late piano trios as “an angry meteor blazing forth and outshining everything in the musical atmosphere of the time”.

The contemporary musical atmosphere, on the other hand, has been shaped by Rudolf Buchbinder, the Viennese grand seigneur of the piano, for decades now, while the Capuçon brothers have also been stirring up the scene for some time. As well as being united by their extraordinary virtuosity and personalities, the three of them share a deep knowledge of Franz Schubert’s works. Together, they will embark on a search for the core of the composer’s poignant late works.
