Raffaele Casarano, whose roots are firmly anchored in his native Salento in southern Italy, is a saxophonist, composer, producer and leading figure of the Italian New Jazz generation.

Through his phrasing and artistic approach, he reinterprets the sound of the African-American diaspora and opens it up to contemporary influences and connections to “distant worlds” that are familiar with his music.

This shows in his collaborations with internationally renowned artists and performers from a variety of musical genres and cultural traditions, including Richard Bona, Sting, Noa, Nguyen Le, Rhani Krija, Nicolas Vicaro and Paolo Fresu, who have all appeared on his Tuk Music label. This is also reflected in his extensive tours of Africa, Brazil, South Korea, Russia and Europe, including the Sounds of Mirrors Tour with Dhafer Youssef and the Unstatic Tour with Manu Katché.

His artistic journey has resulted in seven albums released as band leader, as well as his participation as co-leader and collaborator in more than 100 recordings.

His European tour will see Raffaele Casarano take to the stage for a series of concerts in which he will perform key works spanning his entire career. It is also a unique opportunity to announce the release of his new album, slated for spring 2027, on Manfred Eicher’s renowned German record label ECM.
