Born in 1993, the Canadian-American violinist Timothy Chooi will grace the Isarphilharmonie with his formidable stage presence. Together with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Alevtina Ioffe, he will perform Dvořák’s Romance for Violin and Orchestra and Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto.
The mastery of Tchaikovsky’s lyrical yet expressive opus represents a milestone for any violinist. A challenge for soloists and orchestras alike, the concerto with its demanding passages was composed in the spring of 1878 in Clarens, Switzerland while Tchaikovsky was mired in a personal crisis. The melancholy Russian artistic soul clearly shines through, mingling with light-footed vitality and a touch of romanticism.
The Canadian LaPresse newspaper hailed him as a “miracle”, while the Toronto Star described his play as “bliss”. The young, internationally acclaimed violinist Timothy Chooi enchants the audience with his electrifying performances and profound interpretations. Chooi completed his master’s degree at the Juilliard School in New York and won several prestigious competitions. Timothy Chooi performs on the legendary 1714 “Dolphin” Stradivarius, once played by Jascha Heifetz, generously loaned by the Nippon Music Foundation.
