When Germany’s youngest musical elite take up their instruments, they thrill conductors, soloists, audiences and critics alike: The rousing energy and remarkable skill of the 14- to 24-year-old musicians of the Bundesjugendorchester and Bundesjazzorchester combine to fashion a unique sound of a kind that perhaps only young blood can produce.

The Bundesjugendorchester (National Youth Orchestra) is Germany’s youngest elite orchestra and has been conducted by such luminaries as Herbert von Karajan, Gustavo Dudamel and Sir Simon Rattle. The Bundesjazzorchester (National Jazz Orchestra) is regarded as a talent pool of future jazz musicians, from which Till Brönner, among others, emerged.
