Together with the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the 18-year-old Leonhard Baumgartner will demonstrate his impressive skill and expressive play on the violin with Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. Under the baton of its chief conductor Joseph Bastian, the orchestra will conclude the afternoon with Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, that vividly orchestrated foray into the Orient.

Born and bred in Vienna, the violinist Leonhard Baumgartner was London Young Musician of the Year in 2023 and holds a scholarship of the Academy of Music in Liechtenstein. His studies took him to the Universities of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and Graz and the University of Music and Theatre in Munich. At only 18, he is a prizewinner of numerous national and international competitions, including the first prize at the prestigious Zhuhai International Mozart Competition in 2022 and the ICMA Discovery Award in 2023. Baumgartner has already performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras such as the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra.
