Since his debut with the Munich Philharmonic in November 2021, his career has advanced in leaps and bounds. He now returns with Sergei Rachmaninoff’s challenging Paganini Rhapsody.
Kantorow’s technical prowess, which puts even some of his colleagues in awe, makes him the ideal soloist for this work, which even the piano virtuoso Rachmaninoff admitted to being nervous about performing. The magnificent polonaise that introduces Act 3 of Tchaikovsky’s opera Eugene Onegin is a musical portrait of the Russian aristocracy in the 19th century. Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade suite is a stroll through the oriental fairytale world of One Thousand and One Nights. Masterfully orchestrated and more than just a fantastic tale cast in music, it is a showpiece for the orchestra and its soloists.
