Zubin Mehta had to cancel this concert with the Munich Philharmonic in May 2025, and Pablo Heras-Casado will take his place.

Conductor laureate Zubin Mehta has decided to take a much-needed break in May 2025 and therefore, much to his regret, had to cancel his concerts with the Munich Philharmonic on 21 and 22 May. Pablo Heras-Casado, with whom the Munich Philharmonic played two tour concerts in Vienna and Budapest as recently as this April, has kindly agreed to take his place.

With this change of conductor, the Philharmonic are returning to the originally planned programme: The first half will feature Haydn’s Sinfonia concertante with orchestral soloists Marie-Luise Modersohn, Raffaele Giannotti, Naoka Aoki and Floris Mijnders; after the interval, they will perform Mahler’s Symphony No 5, as announced in the annual programme.

The Munich Philharmonic apologises for this unexpected change and is looking forward performing with Zubin Mehta again in the next season.
