The Orquesta Típica Misteriosa de Buenos Aires was founded in 2008 to serve up a programme of danceable tango. Building on the legacy of the great tango orchestras of the 1940s, it has a varied, dynamic repertoire that includes classical tangos, valses and milongas.
Committed to developing the genre, the orchestra performs new compositions as well as its own arrangements of classical tangos. With the changes that culture and music have undergone since the 1940s in mind, this project aims to mirror the great tango orchestras of those early days but with the spirit of those that are part of what is sometimes referred to as “the new golden age of tango”.
