Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem is his last ever composition. Shrouded in myths and legends, is one of the most moving musical settings of the Latin Mass for the Dead. Only about two-thirds of the Requiem was actually composed by Mozart, the work coming to a sudden halt after eight bars of the Lacrimosa. For many years, this unfinished work has captivated conductor Manfred Honeck.

In this dramatic, immersive performance, Honeck interweaves the unfinished fragment with meditative bell chimes, Gregorian chants and other works by Mozart, including his Masonic Funeral Music, the light-filled Laudate Dominum and the consolatory Ave verum corpus. The music is accompanied by recitations of poems, including the harrowing poems of Nobel Prize-winning author Nelly Sachs.
