Imagine a punk band trapped in a drum computer; The Prodigy as Berghain resident; Richie Hawtin meets Slipknot. The unfettered ecstasy and machine-like precision of techno, enriched with the vibrant energy and playfulness of a live band.
Laurenz Karsten, Phillip Oertel and Tim Sarhan have been taking this innovative approach to making live techno for ten years now. On guitar, bass, drums and a variety of effect devices, they create the hard-hitting, unapologetic sound befitting of a rave. No pleasant melodies or dreamy chords to be found here. Komfortrauschen’s screeching acid guitar lines put a 303 in the shade, the monotonous bass lines driving you deep into the darkness, the visceral drum breaks and fat drops causing you to lose yourself in the moment.
