Josh., whose real name is Johannes Sumpich, is known for his humorous, down-to-earth pop packed with Viennese wit. His music features stories from everyday life and invites you to take a little bit of Viennese spirit home with you. Since his rise to fame, his powerful stage presence and heartfelt lyrics have afforded him a growing fan base across the German-speaking world.
Born in Vienna and exposed to music from an early age, Josh. learnt classical guitar and studied jazz at the Vienna Conservatory. He first came to prominence as part of a cover band before launching his solo career in 2018 with the song Cordula Grün, which became a summer hit and made him famous far beyond Austria.
His best-known songs further include Expresso & Tschianti and Von dir ein Tattoo, for which he has received multiple platinum awards and the Amadeus Austrian Music Award. His albums, which include Von Mädchen und Farben, Teilzeitromantik and Reparatur, are always replete with that typical dry Viennese humour. During a health-related hiatus in 2022, Josh. learnt to celebrate life to the full, which is evident in his more recent songs.
