Jonas Kaufmann was awarded the title of Bayrischer Kammersänger in 2013, received the Bambi in the category Classical Music in 2014, the Premio Puccini in 2015, the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2016, and the Officier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres as well as the Bavarian Maximilian Order for Science and Art in 2018. Born in Munich, Jonas Kaufmann has been a United Nations ambassador since last autumn.

“The goal is for humanity to accept and understand that life on this planet only has a future if we all join hands”, says Kaufmann. “Perhaps here’s the contribution we as musicians can make: to build a bridge through art, to refresh our awareness of common culture and interests.”

In spring, he returns to the Isarphilharmonie to perform his personal favourite arias from the Italian opera repertoire.
