Since self-presentation was declared the ultimate goal, bands have gone out of fashion. But Isolation Berlin has no truck with contemporary trends. Instead, they create their own genre, to which they apply the apt label of “protopop”.

With Tobias Bamborschke’s haunting, melancholic and at times nihilistic vocals, the band’s spectrum ranges from post-punk, pop and rock to chanson. But much more important is the special mix of anger, hurt and humour in Isolation Berlin’s music, which unfolds its irresistible charm especially on stage.
