Born in the Italian province of South Tyrol, he has been variously dubbed the Jimi Hendrix of folk and compared to the likes of Piazzolla and Paganini. And yet, Herbert Pixner has created and continued to develop an entirely distinctive musical style over the years.

Born in the Italian province of South Tyrol, he has been variously dubbed the Jimi Hendrix of folk and compared to the likes of Piazzolla and Paganini. And yet, Herbert Pixner has created and continued to develop an entirely distinctive musical style over the years.

Multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer, he is also the creator and driving force behind the Herbert Pixner Project. With its congenial line-up of Manuel Randi (guitars), Ysaline Lentze (harp), Alessandro Trebo (piano) and Werner Unterlercher (bass) as well as Pixner himself, the Herbert Pixner Projekt have been among the most successful exponents of “contemporary and progressive folk music” for twenty years now.

With playful subtlety, powerful rock and blues riffs, brilliant technique and electrifying vivacity, they bring delight to an ever-growing audience. Euphoria, energy, excitement and a lot of free improvisation are the not-so-secret ingredients of the Herbert Pixner Projekt’s success.

World-class Alpine world music: the embodiment of freedom, stormy romance, wild abandon and, above all, unbridled fun.
