The Kontrapunkte (Counterpoints) exhibition playfully explores the work of Johann Sebastian Bach. In dialogue with the composer’s complex works, the artists in the HP8 studios created a variety of thought-provoking visual impulses and interpretations on paper that offer new approaches to Bach’s oeuvre.

Counterpoint is a compositional technique in music where several independent voices of equal melodic value are combined in such a way that they create tension through harmony and disharmony.

Visual artists work in a similar way. Using this technique, the artists of the HP8 studios explore Bach’s compositions, showcasing their explorations with paintings, drawings and photography in the Aspekte Galerie.
