Ensemble Polysono: Music as a Source of Resilience
Ever since its foundation, Ensemble Polysono has been in search for new means of musical expression. It presents works by modern composers, such as Karlheinz Stockhausen and Iannis Xenakis, as well as premieres of new works that take a critical look at the present day.

What role does art play when the world is falling apart at the seams? It helps boost resilience and counter shallow reality with a world of richness and spirit. As well as mirroring the state of the world, music is capable of providing new impulses and perspectives.
Creativity offers a way of processing world events and countering them with a different narrative. The new tour programme includes works for a wide range of different instrumentations, such as solo flute; solo cello; duos for soprano and baritone or violin and piano; trios for flute, clarinet and piano; quartets for soprano, bass flute, bass clarinet and cello; and the sextet concluding the concert, which unites all ensemble members for a grand finale.
The Basel-based Ensemble Polysono specialises in the performance of challenging contemporary works. It tours throughout Switzerland and to major cities in Europe every year. The ensemble’s programmes include both world premieres and revivals of outstanding works of topical relevance. Innovative ideas and concepts always take centre stage.
